Flamingo is the one in charge of turning the modelled jewel from Rhinoceros into a photo-realistic jewel. With Flamingo we can apply the materials to any jewel modelled with Rhinoceros. Both programs are integrated within the very same work ambience.

Once the material is created we can save it in the library of materials incorporated to be able to use it when we need it

The calculation of light simulates the same phenomena of nature; light bounces back from metal objects, brightness from gems are calculated according to transparency and the refractive index.
The same reflection effects that appear in the real gems are created in the inner reflections calculated by Flamingo.

In the virtual image of the gem appears the same effect as in the original gem. Flamingo belongs to the group of Rendering Raytrace units capable of calculating light refraction in the interior of gems.
Once the materials have been applied to the gem it is time to Render. The computer calculates all the materials, brightness, shades, etc, until it gets the virtual simulation of the jewel. This one will be ready to be printed on paper on the desired size to be shown to our customer.
 

To create a new material we must introduce its characteristics such as colour, brightness, reflection, transparency, roughness, refraction, attenuation or texture, which allow us simulate real materials with great accuracy.
